CineQuote Newsletter #22

Hopefully everyone’s doing alright

Hopefully everyone’s doing alright. With luck you’re not embroiled in either the Lively/Baldoni baloney or the PR campaign for Emilia Perez. And if you’re a part of both, oooft good luck, if you can prove it CineQuote will buy you a much needed drink. Oh. we’re gonna do the One Shot early again. https://cinequote.net/oneshot/newsletter-22-one-shots

Next week it’ll be at the end. You can of course scroll down and click it and not read any of the newsletter, but then you’d miss our subversive doublespeak and acerbic satire. [Note to editor, please insert some subversive doublespeak and/or acerbic satire here so they know what we’re talking about] ;)

For now though, let’s talk stats…

Last Week’s Highlights

SHAUN OF THE DEAD NARROWLY beat out Ghost for Highest Win Percentage this week, but boy, it was down to the wire. Funny though that a movie about the undead bested a movie about a guy who’s dead. So many great quotes in this one, it was brutal getting it down to 5, although we had fun with that ultimate winquote.

Highest Win Percentage

93.3%

Lowest Win Percentage

23.9%

No surprise, but the Sunday Stumper absolutely decimated scores this week. Jonathan Demme’s SOMETHING WILD did not grant many gimmes in terms of easy quotes, but Melanie Griffith, Jeff Daniels, and Ray Liotta have very distinct voices, so there was a hope some players could have identified them and then remembered what movie they all shared. Those hopes were dashed, but remember the Sunday Stumper is the “honey badger” of CineQuote. You think the Sunday Stumper cares? The Sunday Stumper don’t give a shit.

Most Aced Movie

29.1%

29.1% Ace Rate on GHOST? Did you all, like, JUST watch it? My goodness. That’s…uh, kind of amazing. Maybe Whoopi’s voice is so ingrained in people’s heads from being on TV every day since 1997 that using a quote from her on number 1 was risky, but hats should be tipped to all of you who got it, and tipped they be

I'm so sorry. You know, I need another one. I signed the wrong name.

You know what this means though, right? You know what we have to do now, right? Not a threat, but don’t be surprised if Ghost comes up again.

Lest you forget the great Home Alone debacle of ‘24…

CQ Recommends

Making your own clay popcorn bucket is not required (but recommended.)

True story set in the winter of 1925 of a champion dogsled trainer and his lead sled dog. Together, they embark on an adventure across the treacherous terrain of Alaska to transport medicine to a small town.

I love dogs. I love movies. I don’t love all dog movies, but I loved this one. Sure, there’s some hokiness and schaltz, after all it’s a Disney live-action, but if you can stow your cynicsm for two hours then you’re in for a good belly rub. HIKE!”
