CineQuote Newsletter #2
Sept 30, 2024
Welcome back, Cinephiles and Cinelikers
Hope you had fun with the last week of games and that you saw a good movie or two (or three.) The games this week were a mad melange of mostly comedies, some that audiences laughed with, and some that they laughed at. We’re not naming names. And depending on your perspective, Escape from New York is a real laugh riot too. So whether you call us CineQuote, CQ, or Plissken, we’re glad you didn’t smash that unsubscribe button as soon as the last newsletter rolled in. Some did, and we wish them well but they probably didn’t even notice the special link at the bottom of the newsletter to play a secret series of One Shot CQs. Their loss.
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage 88.78% | Lowest Win Percentage 26% |
The highest success rate of last week was Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me with an 88.78 success rate. It just narrowly edged out Pretty Woman with an 88.69 rate. Pretty Woman would have broke 90 percent if only we had used the clip of Julia Roberts getting her fingers smacked in that necklace box.
Did you know that wasn’t a cheap prop? That necklace was on loan to the movie and it was worth 250 grand.
Biggest failure rate this week? Crazy People, the 1990 Dudley Moore dark comedy about the advertising world. No surprise people had trouble with it. Only 26% of folks saw their way to a win on that one.
Most Aced Movie 11.37% | Highest percentage of Aces did in fact land on Escape from New York where a lot of you knew Ernest Borgnine’s voice like the back of your hand. “You don't want to be walking from the Bowery at 42nd street at night. Ha! I've been driving a cab here for 30 years and I'm telling you, you don't walk around here at night! Ha ha! Yes, sir! They'll kill you and strip you in 10 seconds flat!” He’s also the voice of Mermaid Man from Spongebob, but because Mermaid Man didn’t make it into the Spongebob movie you don’t have to worry about knowing that for CQ. |
CQ Recommends

We can also recommend the ostrich steak. Very lean. Locally raised.
A young British soldier (Jack O'Connell) must find his way back to safety after his unit accidentally abandons him during a riot in the streets of Belfast. Streaming on Kanopy, Tubi (with ads), or rentable on Apple+ “Wrong time, wrong place, wrong uniform, with a standout performance by O’Connell.” - Sean |
Shipwrecked on a deserted island, a robot named Roz must learn to adapt to its new surroundings. Building relationships with the native animals, Roz soon develops a parental bond with an orphaned gosling. “Dreamworks does it again. Beautifully animated with a heartfelt message. I’m not crying you’re crying!” -Flet |
As always, it’d be a big help if you joined up as a Member. For 5 bucks a month, you get access to the last seven days of movies, information on where the movie of the day is streamable or rentable, and no ads when ads eventually roll in like children of the corn. Just go to your Profile tab to sign up.
That’s it for now. We got a great seven more days of movies coming at ya so get to CineQuote.net and help spread the word. Send the link (or even this newsletter) to a movie-friend and help them catch the fever. The CQ Fever.*
*not actually a fever, more of a mild nausea and brief disorientation with an endorphin chaser
