CineQuote Newsletter #8
November 11, 2024
Good morning, everyone. We’re slowly stepping out into the haze and smoke and squinting in the sunlight. Take our outstretched hand if you see it and we’ll help guide you out of the fracas. For now, let’s talk movies instead of dumpster fires.
Hey, let’s get real. We’re gonna keep on churning out games for everybody here until we run out of movies. We hope you’ll support what we do by playing daily, telling friends about us, and if you can, by joining the plucky army of supporters we have already by becoming a Member. And unlike the New York Times, WE’RE NOT ON STRIKE. So for those in your world who are sitting out the Wordle or Spelling Bee or the Crossword in solidarity, tell ‘em they can enjoy their coffee with CineQuote.net instead. Or even send them the link at the bottom of this newsletter so they can dip their toe in the water with a couple of One Shots.
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage 94.1% | Lowest Win Percentage 41.6% |
A FEW GOOD MEN absolutely destroyed our servers this week clocking in at a 94.1% win rate. Maybe the Kevin Pollock rant was a little too revealing as the Ace Rate was a staggering 34.3 percent. Yikes. Did you all watch this movie last week, or is A FEW GOOD MEN just burned onto your brain? I mean, there’s less and less of ‘em around nowadays so we get trying to keep ‘em close (amirite, ladies?!) but Rob Reiner was gobsmacked when we told him that his movie did so well on CQ. Next time it comes up we’re gonna have to up the difficulty scale on those quotes so you don’t cause a red alarm at our headquarters.
Most Aced Movie 34.3% | “Why do you hate them so much?” “They beat up on a weakling. That's all they did. All right? The rest of this is just smoke-filled coffeehouse crap. They tortured and tormented a weaker kid. They didn't like him, so they killed him. And why? Because he couldn't run very fast.” |
The Sunday Stumper lived up to its reputation again as 1980s teen-drama LUCAS netted a paltry 41.6 win rate. We tried to tip our hand by name-dropping Corey Haim’s hapless character in the 5th quote, but sadly it wasn’t enough as about 60 percent of players couldn’t pull out a W. So goeth the Stumper sometimes. If we made this game too easy, you wouldn't respect us in the mornings.
CQ Recommends

We’ll leave it on the doorstep and get the hell out of here.
A mockumentary set in the fictional town of Blaine, Missouri in which creative citizens prepare a multi-media pageant celebrating the 150th anniversary of their city. Stream on Pluto TV for free with ads, or rent it. “Yeah, most of you have probably seen it. And even if you have, it wouldn’t hurt to revisit Blaine this week and let Corky St. Clair wax nostalgic about his post-Navy days.” - Sean |
An ambitious and wide-ranging documentary exploring Andre’s upbringing in France, his celebrated career in WWE, and his forays in the entertainment world. “Entertaining and ultimately bittersweet, Also watch it to see how tiny that Molson Canadian Beer can looks in his hands.“ - Flet |
Did you know we have a THREADS account!? Wellllllllll, we do. You’d be like the 2nd person to follow us. We don’t overpost, but when we do it’ll be often a helpful hint about the movie of the day. We’ll also put out occasional hints on our Twitter (X) and Instagram, if that’s your thing too.
Wanna be a hero? Consider becoming a Member. For 5 bucks a month, you get access to the last seven days of movies, information on where the movie of the day is streamable or rentable, and our Jeremiah Johnson nod of respect. Just go to your Profile tab to sign up!
If you made it this far, here are a couple of freshly-cooked One Shots. https://cinequote.net/oneshot/newsletter-8-one-shots
