Goodbye, David
Well, we sure lost a real one this week. David Lynch got off this blue marble, right before what would have been his 79th birthday. Whether you felt his body of work was right up your alley, or if his work was an alley you altogether wanted to avoid, they really don’t make ‘em quite like David Lynch anymore. We’ve lost a few kindred spirits of cinema over the couple years CineQuote has been around, and we’ll try to do a little something to pay homage the only way we know how. Try and find a slice of cherry pie and a good cup of coffee this week, and toast one of the crotchety, but lovable uncles of movie-making. We hope he got to say and do whatever he wanted to say and do while he was here. Goodbye David.

Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage 92.8% | Lowest Win Percentage 33.06% |
It’s not the size that counts as ANT-MAN eeked out a first place showing this week with a 92.8% win rate. Marvel movies tend to do pretty well and this was no exception. Had we done one of the Ant-Man sequels maybe we’re looking at a lower number. But we didn’t. I guess you have those to look forward to if that’s your thing, unless we’re sneaky devils and just do Ant-Man again in a week with all new quotes, but when have we ever done something THAT aggravating…?
The Sunday Stumper RUN RONNIE RUN held the banner with a shabby 33.06% win rate. Kind of expected given that nobody really remembers the “Mr. Show” sketch-turned-feature starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. Pretty amazing cameo list for this movie, including of course, Jeff Goldblum who we used in quote #2. However, our favorite quote of course was Mandy Patinkin going all the way in the in-movie Broadway musical adaptation, viewable here.
Most Aced Movie 19.3% | TRUE ROMANCE secured the top Ace score at an impressive 19.3%. Overall, only 57.7% actually won that day, so this was one of those situations where, for the most part, people either knew it right away, or they didn’t know it at all. Still, a pretty amazing Gary Oldman performance, which was par for the course in the 90s. “No thanks? What that mean? I think you're too scared to be eating. Now see, we're sitting down here ready to negotiate, and you've already given up your shit. I'm still a mystery to you but I know exactly where your white ass is coming from.” |
CQ Recommends

Sorry, no Sonny Chiba this week!
When one of her students is suspected of theft, teacher Carla Nowak decides to get to the bottom of the matter. Caught between her ideals and the school system, the consequences of her actions threaten to break her. “Definitely sympathetic in a new way to all you middle-school teachers out there, and I suppose, teachers in general. Not sure the tense, knot in my throat feeling over this is necessary helpful this week, but it's a fairly gripping watch. Also features my favorite score from last year, composed by the immensely talented Marvin Miller.” - Sean |
