A surprise return to the McAllister’s Torture Chamber

Yes, we did Home Alone again. Want to get that out of the way right at the top. Not only did we do it again, but we did it twice in ten days. Overkill? Yes. Lunacy? Perhaps. However, after the first time yielded an Ace Rate of over 50% we owed to you, and owed it to ourselves, to issue a real Home Alone challenge. For those of you who Aced both days, congratulations, you are Home Alone “UNSTUMPABLE”. Maybe that will be Merriam Webster’s word of the year for 2025? It really is the highest accolade we here at CineQuote can bestow.

Last Week’s Highlights

Highest Win Percentage

89.8%

Lowest Win Percentage

47.3%

No surprise, HOME ALONE once again took the top spot, with a 89.8% win rate, beating out spiritual kin A CHRISTMAS STORY by a whisper. Randy was upset to hear this and so he smashed his dinner muttering “meatloaf, beatloaf, I hate meatloaf.” Chin up, little piggy, A CHRISTMAS STORY did exceptionally well coming in with an 85.6%.

That HOME ALONE score is down from the previous week where it yielded a 97.2% win rate. So our experiment worked in a way, and once again a gentle reminder that we showcase movies more than once here on CQ. How much of a drag would it be if you could just rhetorically muse, “Well it can't be [insert whatever you're thinking], they did that recently." Also, we're gaining new players every day so we don't want them to lose out on Home Alone forever because we already did it. Are you tired of hearing about friggin Home Alone now? Well, if not, it's probably on TV right now.

TUCK EVERLASTING earned its Sunday Stumper placement with a life-sapping 47.3% win rate. Some people could pick out that Rory Gilmore speedtalk but couldn’t recall the movie she starred in. Quote #5 even name-dropped Tuck himself but players either disregarded that or were too pessimistic they could win at all and just tossed in the towel.

Most Aced Movie

12.6%

And guess what? HOME ALONE also won top Ace rate with 12.6% of players recognizing Kevin's dad and aunt:

“Do you guys have a voltage adapter?”

“Here! Here's a voltage adapter!”

Ok, so NOW we're done talking Home Alone. Jeez…

CQ Recommends

We recommend smaller bites than this.

A grieving man tries to avenge the wrongs a drug dealer has reaped upon his family.

A cold, dark, wintery revenge thriller starring Stellan Skarsgård as a man pushed beyond his limits who feels he has nothing to lose? Sign me up. Whatever you do though, don't mistake this for the American remake they tried to do a few years after. We don't even wanna name that just in case you watch the wrong one. In Order of Disappearance - that's the title you should track down.

By the way, sometimes (but not all the time) movies recently talked about on the UNKIND REWIND Podcast show up on CQ. If you had been listening to that recently you might have got Tuck Everlasting. ;)
