Welcome to Awards Season

It’s that time of year again. The Golden Globes last week kicked off what will be two months of statuettes, red carpets, “who are you wearing”s, and special podium thank yous. That doesn’t mean CineQuote will be putting these nominated films front and center, but we will try and put out a top 10 somehow and somewhere.
Also, we’d be remiss not to mention how gutted we feel by what’s happening in Los Angeles. We got friends in the area going through the worst of it. Due to just how many people who live in the greater L.A. area, chances are you know someone affected, and even if you don’t, boy, people are really going through the worst time of their lives right now. We’re gonna drop some links to worthy sites down below that are helping out. If you’ve got a few bucks to chip in, consider one of the ones (or find one of the many others out there doing good work.)
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage 90.8% | Lowest Win Percentage 48.7% |
MISS CONGENIALITY dominated the week with a 90.8% win rate. And it was basically a landslide, with second and third place in the low 80% range. Apparently though, from the jump folks had an inkling about the Sandy Bullock comedy-action-romance (com-act-rom?) with Miss New Jersey also netted the bonus of winning top Ace rate with a 16.9%.
It was a close race for the runt of the litter this week. Two movies dropped below the equator with sub 50% win rates. The unlucky two? DON’T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER’S DEAD and THE WHALE. However, by less than a percentage point THE WHALE topped the scale with a 48.7 win rate. Pretty on target for a Sunday Stumper, but the guy did win the Academy Award in the last couple years so we thought folks mighta been able to get it at a higher clip, but nope! Also, we were surprised DTMTBD did so poorly. Maybe we didn’t character-drop the babysitter, sure, but only about half of you were “right on top of it, Rose!” We also saw that movie a million times, so we misjudged how well people knew it.
Most Aced Movie 16.9% | “One time I stole red underwear from the department store. My mother wouldn't buy them for me. She said they were Satan's panties.” Probably not the last time we’re gonna mention the devil’s hosiery on CQ. |
