DOUBLE-STUF Newsletter!

Oh, that Ace feeling is just tooooooooo good.
Due to inclement craziness, we had to miss out on last week’s newsletter. Not to worry, we’ve mopped up all the flooding, and then used the mop water to put out all the fires. Not sure what to do about the rain clouds that are hanging directly over our office (and nowhere else). Hopefully those go away once we’ve reupped our meds.
So today, you’ll get an added bonus of seeing the “Winning” and “Losing” Movie for the week (along with the top Ace rate) as well as allllll the stats from the previous week. This way, you can at least keep your accounting up to date as is normally conveyed through this here missive. Thanks for being patient. Excited for you to play the 7 new movies this week!
Lastly, welcome aboard to all our CQ Members, newly signed on and veterans alike! We’re so happy you believe in us. In addition to all the bonus features and extra games to play, the Triple Play below is for our Members to play. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
But of course everyone reading this is welcome to try their luck at the One Shot.
Alrighty. Let’s talk numbers:
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage96.9% | Lowest Win Percentage53.8% |
They made four Jaws movies, but they broke the mold on the first one. A CineQuote favorite over here, JAWS is so rife with great dialogue we had to firehose the quote selection department as it was turning into a disorderly grudge match. In the end,”Hooper drives the boat, Chief”… and so we had to do what Hooper wanted.
Wise podcast imbibers may have heard our friends the Unkind Rewind wax nostalgic about this semi-forgotten gem featuring Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood. This was her last performance on screen before the fateful boat ride that took her life. BRAINSTORM has a lot of prescient ideas, and a wonky execution, but you should give that podcast episode a listen after you watch the movie. Available on digital rental basically everywhere.
Ace of the Week16.0%"My mother lives in Hackensack.” |
Ahh, Miss Teschmacher, if you only knew how many young men you inspired to grow up and become supervillains. It didn’t take much for you Supes-heads to zero in on whose voice that was in quote 1 of SUPERMAN, even if the community of Hackensack, NJ doesn’t get a lot of on-screen mentions. Valerie Perrine had an interesting life ending with a tragic diagnosis of Parkinson’s. Stacey Souther did a great thing by putting together a documentary about her. 9/23 Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage94.7% | Lowest Win Percentage43.7% ![]() Assassins (1995) |
We did STAR WARS: EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE. without using a Jar Jar quote. You’re welcome.
ASSASSINS seemed to give people fits even though three of those quotes were about, well, assassinatin’! Sometimes just close your eyes and think, “what is CineQuote trying to tell me here…?” That doesn’t always work, but when you scribble down word associations based on the the clues, often times the answer will reveal itself. Oddly enough, this movie doesn’t even use the A word, so we tried our best. A 43.7% score definitely reflects we didn’t do enough. Ace of the Week17.3%"Oh, my bones are aching, storm's coming up." |
How in the world are we gonna stump you if you can pull a Margaret Towner quote!? Should we even try with these Star Wars movies anymore? We are gonna do a one word quote next time to start.
ONE. DAMN. WORD.
You’ve been warned…
Here are the numbers for all the games from the week of 9/24.
Movie | Win % | Ace % |
|---|---|---|
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) | 89.0% | 17.3% |
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) | 81.6% | 7.6% |

CQ Recommends
Follows a donkey who encounters on his journeys good and bad people, experiences joy and pain, exploring a vision of modern Europe through his eyes. No way connected to the 1980s sci-fi musical Captain EO, this movie is from legendary Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski. Lost in the post-covid barrage of releases, this donkey-centric bildungsroman doesn’t have much dialogue, but not much is needed. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll ..bray? Go EO Go! -Sean |
