CineQuote is ALIVE!

Well, it’s been a fortnight, but we’re back. For the time being we’re gonna do CQ Newsletters twice a month, as opposed to once a week. Even with a thousand monkeys typing away at a thousand typewriters it was still very stressful getting a coherent Newsletter together in just seven days. Format-wise, we added a bunch more stats, as well as some trivia tidbits. Give it a perusal, and as always, you can let us know your thoughts and feelings by hitting Send Feedback under your Profile Tab.

IF YOU’RE READING THIS, A WARNING: today begins fourteen straight days of horror movies! We’ll be doing scary stuff all the way through Halloween. Lock the doors, get under the bed, and be very, very quiet… or CQ will stump you!

And a big “oh hi there” to all our CQ Members, old school gamers and the newly enlisted alike! We’re so happy you signed up. In addition to all the bonus features and extra games to play, the Triple Play below is exclusively for our Members. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

But of course everyone reading this is welcome to try their luck at the One Shot.

Alrighty. Let’s talk numbers:

67.1% Us (2019)
69.3% Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)

It’s alive! YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN had a great showing thanks in large part to the unmistakable voice of Gene Wilder, and the general vibe of reanimated necrotic tissue, but you know, for the laughs. Beating a Disney Princess is extremely difficult to do, but never doubt the Mel Brooks effect.

So BETTER OFF DEAD died a terrible death this last circuit. John Cusack halfheartedly attempts suicide a number of times in this mid 80s screwball comedy, but there’s little dialogue in those scenes so it was difficult to convey his sentiment ergo the title of the movie.

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN won the double-dip of highest win rate, and also snagging the Ace Rate winner. A heavily make-upped suburban mom squeezing the face of a teenage French girl was the silver medalist.

CQ Recommends

Tenzing (2026)

The inspiring tale of one of the most important mountain climbers in history who along with Edmund Hillary, are forever linked with Mount Everest.

Rare for me to drop a recent movie in this section, but I want to get it on your radar while it’s streamable. I lucked out and got to see this at a theater. Definitely check local listings as it’s one of the cinematographic marvels this year. Could not be more impressed with how this movie looks and the bravura performance from lead actor Genden Phuntsok. Best of all, Tom Hiddleston doesn’t dance for a second.
