CineQuote Newsletter #28

We brought back Major League this week in honor of Opening Day, but will probably keep the baseball movies to their normal rate of appearance on CQ. And as much as we’re all reluctant to click anything that say NEWS nowadays, we remind you that our NEWS tab is relatively stress free. If you clicked it this last week, you would have seen a link to the One Shot we forgot to add on last week’s newsletter. For posterity, we’re gonna link both last week’s, and this week’s One Shot on the bottom of THIS newsletter (scroll down, you’ll see it.) Moving forward though, remember to click the NEWS Tab, play the games in the PACKS tab, and try and call your mom or dad. Or even text a cousin. They miss you.

Last Week’s Highlights

Highest Win Percentage

96.4%

Lowest Win Percentage

53.8%

Well, sometimes we fire a fastball right down the hear of the plate, we just don’t tell you it’s coming. Sure enough, you cracked it outta the ballpark by hitting a borderline all time high score of 96.4% on THE WIZARD OF OZ. That should make your grandparents feel good, that you’re not forgetting the movies of yesteryear. After it’s first run back in ‘39, they re-released it to theaters in 1949, and also in 1955. Rare for a movie to get re-releases like that, but this thing was an ATM for MGM, FYI.

Not *quite* as popular as The Wizard of Oz was a little Michael Crichton adaptation about sexual harassment called DISCLOSURE. Despite some pretty big stars n this(Michael Douglas and Demi Moore), apparently not a lot of you saw it/remembered it. Only just over half of players got it, but no worries, there seemingly was a hundred of these “sexy, powerful woman, but here’s the big twist… she’s also kind of a bitch!” movies during the 1990s.

Most Aced Movie

22.2%

And yes, we couldn’t fool you Ozheads. It got the top Ace rate of 22.2%… Makes us wonder if can go even harder next time… Hmm. You’re gonna need heart, courage, and a brain if so.

“That's ridiculous. Spooks. That's silly.”

Fun fact, Jack Haley was a last minute replacement for Buddy Ebsen, who suffered a severe allergic reaction from inhaling the aluminum powder Tin Man makeup, also triggering a bronchial infection.

CQ Recommends

The movie is starting! Shiiiit!

A truck driver stops at a small family-run noodle shop in Japan and decides to help its fledgling business. The story is intertwined with various vignettes about the relationship of love and food.

Scrumptious! If you’re bored of all movies feeling the same, take in Juzo Itami’s wild, unique love letter to noodle shops (and uh, sushi tables.)

The Unkind Rewind is a movie podcast exploring the filmic nostalgia of a special guest each week, to learn if their beloved favorites have held up or perished in the light of today. They’ve talked Labyrinth, The Craft, Beastmaster, St. Elmo’s Fire and many others. Give it a listen if you like movietalk and are tired of the usual podfare out there.

We started a BlueSky account! Add that to our Threads account, our TikTok account, then there’s our Facebook, Twitter (X) and Instagram, if that’s your thing too. Sometimes there’s helpful hints dropped there, so it’d be wise to follow.

Bonus trivia, here’s the One Shot game from last week. And while you’re at it, here’s the hot and fresh One Shot game from this week. Good luck!
