Fire up the iron horse, boys.

Stillerver’s Travels
Happy Memorial Day from CineQuote. Try the OneShot today for our little dedication to the troops.
We had three movies in the 90 percentile Win Rate this week, and it would have been four in a row if 22 Jump Steet hadn’t gummed up the works. Way to go, Richard Grieco, you buzzkill! And yes, even though you were barely in 22 Jump Street we’re still blaming you for the poor return. Just for that, we’re gonna knock your steamy 1993 cat/human hybrid-run-amok thriller Tomcat: Dangerous Desires back a few months. Here’s the trailer for that so y’all can be ready, even though we’re mad at ol “Dicky Greeks” and this probably won’t be for awhile. We’re also peeved there aren’t more cat growls in this trailer. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRREIR!
If you’re current with the CQ News Tab, you’ll see we dropped that special pack to play for our Members that we teased last newsletter. It features four Vampire movies, but each one has never before been played on CineQuote before, so if you think you know your vampflicks, and want to give it a go, signing up as a Member is cheap ‘n easy. Just click your profile tab or right here.
Alright, intro over. Grab your glowsticks, low-rise jeans, a halter top and a cute zip-up vest. Time to rave about last week…
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage97.7% | Lowest Win Percentage53.5% |
Maybe we’ll get to the other NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM sequels someday, and whoa lookatdat, there’s actually an animated one. Sure, ok, why not? Most agree it was diminishing returns with those sequels, and we could feature one of the others in the future (probs not) but most everybody banked on us doing the first one, and your bet was sound. NATM featured a reunion of sorts for Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney who hadn’t been on screen together since the Carl Reiner movie The Comic from 1969 about an obsolete silent film comedian who apparently benefits later on in his life from doing commercials. And if you wanna guess the name of the detergent they’re advertising in this clip, you’re gonna be wrong.
Last Sunday, we did CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (or as my mom calls it “the Jumping Dragon Man”.) That had a Win Rate of 82% which means either there aren’t a lot of Mandarin Ancient Martial Arts movies in our collective consciousness, or everyone here knows the secrets of the Wudang. We believe the latter. However, what really proved to be the Stumper this week was the hilarious Wallace & Gromit short THE WRONG TROUSERS with a cheeseless win rate of only 53.5%. We don’t normally do short films, but we can’t say “no, bad dog” to Gromit. All of the W&G adventures are up on Prime right now, so do yourself a favor and watch a few if you have BezosVision. The recent feature Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is (in?)conveniently up on Netflix. I’m sure the documentary about the making of it is streaming on Kix or Bubi or Mofo or whatever the hell is up running nowadays.

Pappas (Gary Busey) enjoys his first of two meatball sandwiches provided by his partner, Johnny Utah, in Point Break (1991)
“I'm so hungry I could eat the ass end out of a dead rhino. I should have had you give me three of these things.”
For some of you out there, we’re not sure we’d ever be able to stump you on POINT BREAK, one of the more quotable action flicks ever made. While not the most eloquent way to put it in this quote, a voracious appetite has kept Gary Busey alive (technically) some 80 years. Perhaps we all need to attack our meals with the same aplomb. Next time you sit down at a nice restaurant remember Busey’s words here and loudly repeat it verbatim to the waiter when they ask how you’re enjoying your dinner. I’m sure they’ll get the reference and no one will look at you weird.
CQ Recommends

We recommend taking a walk in (on?) the woods.
During a weekend backpacking trip in the Catskills, 17-year-old Sam navigates the clash of egos between her father and his oldest friend. A walk in nature is tonic for the soul, and helps even when you think it won’t / it didn’t. If nature-nature is hard to find, try a park or barring that, a walk around your concrete jungle. Once you’re done with that and are looking for a movie about being in nature, we’re recommending last year’s criminally underseen GOOD ONE from India Donaldson in her directorial debut. Available for rental. |
