CineQuote Newsletter #39
By reading this newsletter... you have chosen wisely.

Newsflash, Wordle may be running out of 5 letter words. In fact, around 1000 never-chosen words remain which means that they’ll run out of new games in 2027. CineQuote will never leave you high and dry like that. If our calculations are correct, we’ll run out of new movies to play in 2591, and that’s if they stop making new movies right now. When they start repeating words, people are gonna riot. When we repeat movies, at least we do you the courtesy of showcasing new quotes. Are we saying CineQuote is better than Wordle? No, not officially. Are we saying Wordle is better than CineQuote? No, officially. What we are saying is CineQuote has your back in a way Wordle never could. Yes, we’re talking to the immortals out there, but also you cinephiles who keep CQ as part of your day.
Pretty good scores this last week, save for the Stumper. Let’s get into it.
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage91.7% | Lowest Win Percentage64.6% |
You can hum this theme song in your head, and apparently despite five movies in this series, players zeroed their sights in on the right installment. We would never be so on the nose to put the movie Father’s Day on Father’s Day, but we definitely had the papa holiday in mind in choosing the most dad-centric of the Indy movies. INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE boasted a 91.7% win rate, so if you didn’t get it, always remember… the penitent man will pass. Also remember that in the Latin alphabet, Jehovah begins with an I. Probably won’t come up, but if it does, knowing that might just save your life…
Even though Steven Soderbergh has threatened retirement numerous occasions, the guy just keeps making movies. One of them however gave players fits. LOGAN LUCKY only racked up a 64.6% win rate, which means many aren’t familiar with Adam Driver and Daniel Craig’s Southern accents. That, or a movie set on a motorcar speedway that wasn’t Days of Thunder or Talladega Nights just proved too obscure to bring to mind. By the way, Soderbergh just released the supernatural thriller Prescence, so forget we ever brought up his fabled retirement.
Ace of the Week21.6%“Take a look. What do you think?” “I think it's going to be hard for her to re-enter the pageant...without a face.” |
Okay, so in our attempt to toss a red herring at you proved to not throw you off the trail, as 21.6 % of players (WHAT?!) somehow knew the fictitious show “Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime” from a fictitious movie, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. People did much better on this than the time we did all the made-up trailers for the “actors” in Tropic Thunder. Well, it looks like the meta didn’t flummox you here. We definitely think the musical stinger at the end of the quote made a key difference. Hope they bring back CS:SOTC for a few more seasons…
CQ Recommends

We recommend taking your Dad out for a movie sometime.
The Alps, late 19th century. Greider, a mysterious lone rider who claims to be a photographer, arrives at an isolated lumber village, despotically ruled by a family clan, asking for winter accommodation. Wandered into this at an international film festival awhile back, and glad I did. Dark, gothic, not quite a horror film, but many unsettling elements, including a terrifying blacksmith that looks like this: ![]() -Sean |
