Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Bobblehead Night

Cauldron of Hot Selleck

One more week of horror movies and playoff baseball. If only those two things combined into enough movies the entire upcoming week we could do Nightmare at Yankee Stadium, Friday the 13th Inning, The Green Monster, Chopper up the Middle, The Dead Ball Era, 5-4-3 Triple Kill, The Cut-Off Man, and of course, Doubleheader. Ok, we’re done. And if we got any graphic designers out there, we’d love to see what you’d cook up for one of these posters.

Or what about Infield Die Rule, Murderer’s Row, Ghostrunner, or Tommy John Knockers? Ok, nooooooooow we’re done. Sorry.

Well, Diana Prince tossed her lasso around players this week and asked, “What 2017 movie made 823 million dollars at the worldwide box office?” Yep, WONDER WOMAN. The funny thing is, 823 million only got it 10th place as that was the year it was up against three Marvel movies, two movies with the Rock (or is it The Rock?), a Disney live-actioning of B&B, and oh yeah, a Star Wars movie. Just in case that wasn’t good enough to greenlight a sequel, Gal Gadot did try her hand at singing, ohhhhhhh right around March 2020. We imagine she’s not gonna pursue that further…

Not quite sure if you can call MOONWALKER a superhero movie (we’re not going to) but it proved even more of a stumper than the actual Sunday Stumper of Barbarian. Players either heard Michael Jackson’s voice and zeroed in on really the only narrative feature he did outside of The Wiz, or they convinced themselves it had to be MJ-tangential, and thus, no clear way to go with your guesses. Much like the creators of this movie, we here at CQ messed up. Even though we were a bit hamstrung with the word “moonwalk” not appearing in the whole movie, this really should have been reserved for a Sunday. Then the 46.7% win rate would align better. Sorry, fam. That’s on us. We’ll try to make it easier when we inevitably* do Captain EO, the 3D science-fiction short film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring MJ that played at Disney theme parks.

*we’re never doing Captain EO

“We seem to have a skeptic in our midst. Mr. Denison, would you care to share your California laid-back tie-dye point of view?”

When we were trying to decide on a good first quote for HOCUS POCUS the thought was no one would really remember the high school teacher. We underestimated how memorable Kathleen Freeman’s voice was perhaps, and being that the Blues Brothers aren’t from California, there could only be so many options. Or maybe you heard the surname Denison and just knew in your bones what we were playing at. Either way, everyone who got that is now an honorary Sanderson Sister.

Here are the numbers for all the games last week.

CQ Recommends

We recommend starting a chat with Those We Don't Speak Of.

The Mustang (2019)

While participating in a rehabilitation program training wild mustangs, a convict struggles to connect with the horses and his fellow inmates.

I’ve been sounding the horn for awhile that Matthias Schoenaerts is the best Belgian actor whose name you can’t spell. While he’s certainly known better for being in Rust and Bone or The Drop, his work in The Mustang really cemented himself as one of my favorite current actors, Flemish or otherwise.
