Olympic Fever Hangover

Dorsey & Moseley: Olympic Legends
The 2026 Winter Olympics are over. Hope everybody got their fill of underdog storylines and teammate drama. And a hearty well done to everyone who nailed their Pamchenko Twist. We’re a little sad it’s over, but we spent way too much time rooting for the Jamaican bobsled team, as well as getting mesmerized by the chemistry between Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy. If you didn’t see Alysa Liu DESTROY all competition, then here’s a link to her gold medal winning performance in figure skating. We heartily approved of her song choice.
Like in every CQ Newsletter, there’s a mini game for you to play at the bottom. In fact, some of you are not even reading this. You blew right past these words and are playing the One Shot right now. That’s your choice and we have to live with it, even though you’re missing out on this completely A.I.-free news we deemed fit to print. Now, everybody gets a chance to play the One Shot, but for you CineQuote Members out there, do we got a surprise for you...
To help you through Olympic withdrawal, today we’re unveiling the Triple Play!

It’s like Diet CineQuote, and it’ll be available right here in the newsletter every week for all CQ Members. It’s all the taste of Classic CineQuote, with 40% less calories. You’ll hear three quotes, not five, so be extra careful with your guesses. It won’t affect your normal stats and streaks, so think of it as a bonus game. Or rather, a Thank-You for being so supportive of CineQuote. If you’re not a member, there is no time like the present. You can even play the very first Triple Play once you sign up. Right now our team is responsible for concocting the week’s game, but we have a couple ideas about bringing in some special guests down the road to pick the movie and the quotes themselves…
Alright! Let’s look at last week’s numbers!
Last Week’s Highlights
Highest Win Percentage95.6% | Lowest Win Percentage21.2% |
There are seven JURASSIC PARK feature-length movies, or possibly forty five by the time this goes to print. We went old school though this week, blowing the dust off those shaving foam cans and spoonfuls of wobbling Jello. We were trying to challenge you a bit, you made us look like a bunch of six-foot turkeys. You really slashed us across the belly and spilled our intestines, and yes, we were alive when you started to eat us*, to a phenomenal 95.6% win rate.
*if this started getting confusing then you haven’t watched Jurassic Park enough times!
Not too many people saw the acclaimed ALL THE BEAUTRY AND THE BLOODSHED, a documentary about the crusade to hold the Sackler family responsible for their role in the oxy epidemic (among many other topics). What made this all the more difficult for people to get was that the movie WASN’T EVEN IN OUR DATABASE when it went active. That means, some of our friends overseas weren’t even able to select the correct answer. The North Americans were blissfully unaware of this problem as it was fixed by midnight EST, and hopefully we’ve corrected the scores for those who knew it but were hamstrung by our app. It shan’t happen again!…but if it does please hit us up right away and we’ll fix it. That goes for the lot of you. If you SEE something wrong with CineQuote, SAY something. And to us. Don’t tell our rivals, like that Mr. Slugworth. Ok, this is wildly off topic. Try and see this documentary when you can. Bye.
As for the rest…
Everybody seemed to get HIDDEN FIGURES by time gravel-voiced era Kevin Costner showed up in quote 4. And this was even before he started gargling with coral fragments prior to being cast in “Yellowstone.”
THE PRODUCERS managed to sidestep being a remake and, like always, having players guess the other one by mistake to still make it to the 90 percentile in win rate. Bialystock and Bloom send their congratulations.
Question: O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?
Answer: On CineQuote last week, where players crushed it.
Question: Probably one of our favorite movies that end in a question mark?
Answer: Yes?
…
Real Answer: Yes.
And we thought we were being so cute to do a figure skating movie RIGHT SMACK DAB in the middle of the Olympic figure skating frenzy, but there is nothing cute about the 57.5% win rate THE CUTTING EDGE landed. Tony Gilroy wrote this screenplay, he of the Jason Bourne movies. Starting his screenwriting career with this “Will They or Won’t They” (win/hookup) romcom makes us think that Jason Bourne could have solved all his problems if he just learned how to use his toe pick.
Ace of the Week18.5%“Are these characters auto-erotica?” |
Yes, we expected a high ace rate for good ‘ol JURRASSIC PARK, but pushing the 20% threshold is downright HomeAlonetastic. Next time this raptor enters the kitchen, we’re gonna have to go hard, like fossilized amber hard, in order to really test your paleontology proficiency. It’s gonna be an all-hands on deck, all-nighter, ashtray full of cigarette butts, full-up dry erase board kind of brainstorm. “We’ll spare no expense.”
Here are the numbers for all the games last week:
CineQuote Movie | Win % | Ace % |
|---|---|---|
Jurassic Park (1993) | 95.6% | 18.5% |
Annie (1982) | 94.3% | 4.2% |
Hidden Figures (2016) | 90.3% | 6.5% |
The Producers (2005) | 90.0% | 10.2% |
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) | 88.5% | 13.7% |
The Cutting Edge (1992) | 57.5% | 6.3% |
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed (2022) | 21.4% | 2.4% |
