CineQuote Newsletter #91
Through days of wine and riots, the CQ News Team licks their wounds.

The Knicks won. New York burned. We lost our security deposit.
Ok, look. There was no newsletter last week as our New York headquarters was besieged by Knicks fans drunk on victory. As much as we strive to bring you all the stats fit to code, week in and week out, our office was forced into lockdown as tens of thousands of basketball fans poured through the streets and celebrations spread like vines from Jumanji. And while we don’t think they meant us any direct harm, someone drove a school bus through our front lobby, an incensed baboon was released into the stairwell and quickly ran amok, and due to a 1950s sprinkler system that hadn’t been fire-coded since the last Knicks championship, a (presumably) good-natured Molotov cocktail made things more unpleasant than it was intended. Over the next few days as our office was cleaned up, fire debris was jettisoned, our staff sobered, Chichi our office pangolin recovered from smoke inhalation, and we tried to curry favor with teamsters to look the other way on our workplace infractions, the CineQuote Newsletter became collateral damage. We’re not going to rehash the movies that didn’t Top or Bottom or Ace with the usual thoroughness. It would make this Newsletter unreadably long. Instead, we’ll give ya the succinct deets on the last two weeks and hope you can accept that this is our mulligan, our first since the inception of this communique. For what it’s worth, our San Antonio office was spared completely. In fact, someone sent over a lovely fruit basket.
So because there was no Newsletter, there was no One Shot or Triple Play. That we can amend. At the bottom of this Newsletter you’ll be able to play two One Shot mini-games.
And for all our CQ Members, both the newly aboard and you cherished O.Gs, we have two Triple Play mini-games for you to play. For anybody out there who is thinking about it, it’s 5 bucks a month, and the benefits (improved circulation, more blood flow, less headaches) are countless:
These are the Member-Exclusive mini games provide each week here in the Newsletter, so if you wanna be one of the coolest kids at the lunch table, click that profile tab and help support this plucky little underdog of a mobile game by becoming a Member for $5 a month (less than a quarter a day.) A list of benefits is found at end of this correspondence. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Alrighty. Let’s talk numbers:

CineQuote is the best dish we can make you.
Ratatouille is Pixar and Pixar usually does very well. Nothing new here. Maybe Planes won’t do as well. That’s Pixar right? No wait, Planes is a spin-off of Cars but not sure FULL-Pixar was behind it. Ok, just checked. They aren’t. Disney Toons or something made Planes. We had a feeling Pixar wasn’t in the Dane Cook business. Disney Toons however will work with ANYBODY.
There were several Beatles movies (Hard Day’s Night, Yellow Submarine) but chances are, you guessed the wrong one. It was of course HELP! that we went with, probably one of the funniest movies of 1965 if you solely consider all the parts where the Fab 4 are talking to each other.

We take this as a small victory that we got the Ace rate as low as we did for Caddyshack. Given how much it’s been watched and rewatched we were worried this would be above 80%. If you had a crush on Lacey Underall, please become a CineQuote Member. Join the rest of us who felt the same woeful pangs.
Here are the numbers for all the games last week.
Movie | Win % | Ace % |
|---|---|---|
Ratatouille (2007) | 94.5% | 5.0% |
Caddyshack (1980) | 84.7% | 16.9% |

Ok, so Muppet Treasure Island was supposed to be a normal day, and Silver Streak was supposed to be our Sunday Stumper, but in all the hubbub of tracking down the baboon (see above) they got switched around. So, yes, you were right to shake your fist at the heavens when the Gene Wilder screwball action “thrill-omedy” absolutely ruined your week. Good news though, we have captured Shakma and he’ll be relocated far, far away (probably somewhere in New Jersey) so rest assured we won’t give you another 41.5% suckerpunch any weekday soon. We only want to inflict pain on Sundays as it says in our by-laws.
(also, if you live in Jersey… FOR GOD’S SAKE, BE CAREFUL!)

You comic book hardcores really make us look silly when you take a damn near 50 year old movie and yank the Ace Rate up past 20%. We want to hear from you next time we do Superman II and we stump you on the first clue. Even just a simple, “Hey CQ. Well played on the recent Superman II you did. I actually didn’t get it til the second quote” would go a long way. Also, anybody who had a childhood crush on Ursa, join the Lacey Underall swooners over in the CineQuote Membership club.
Movie | Win % | Ace % |
|---|---|---|
Muppet Treasure Island (1996) | 85.3% | 14.9% |
A Very Brady Sequel (1996) | 80.8% | 3.7% |
Superman II (1980) | 70.5% | 22.6% |
The Invisible Man (1933) | 66.4% | 3.8% |
Rio (2011) | 62.2% | 3.9% |
Queen of the Damned (2002) | 53.6% | 3.2% |
Silver Streak (1976) | 41.5% | 3.4% |
CQ Recommends

We recommend scoping out the filming locations of THE ROOM.
An ex-Marine arrives in the corrupt town of Shelby Springs to bail out his cousin. When local police unjustly seize his money via civil asset forfeiture, Terry is forced into a high-stakes, violent war with the police chief and his officers. A lot can be written about the work of Jeremy Saulnier, and his impressive body of work starting with Blue Ruin. Rebel Ridge though is one that folks may use as a nice foray into the Saulnier World without getting absolutely knocked out by the violence of his other movies. Aaron Pierre, working Americanface, is certainly a name to watch as well given how impressive he comes across here. -Sean |
